Ghanaian broadcast journalist Blessed Godsbrain Smart popularly known as Captain Smart has descended heavily on Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh over his comments “Ghana is not heaven”.
Ghanaians for the past few days have called for the resignation of Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh as the Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service after a policeman was shot de@th during a robbery attack at James Town in Accra.
But according to IGP, Ghanaians should be modest in their expectations from the police.
Speaking during his visit to the bereaved family of the murdered police officer Constable Emmanuel Osei on Tuesday, he said well-developed countries including the United States of America, the United Kingdom who have more or less of everything are battling with crimes cases.
“We are doing what we can to protect the people of Ghana. There is no society in the world where there is no crime. Even in the USA, UK and Sweden, where they, more or less have everything, they still have crime. The only place that doesn’t have crime is heaven and we are not in heaven,” he said.
The comment from IGP has caused a lot of Ghanaians to react including renowned journalist Captain Smart.
Captain Smart speaking on Onua TV’s ‘Maakye’ show fired some shots at Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh. To him, the comment from the IGP is an insult to President Akufo-Addo because the President is aware that Ghana is not heaven that’s why he appointed him as IGP to make Ghana a living hell for armed robbers.
