A Plus reacting to the huge amount of money needed for the exercise claims it will cost GHS 20 to count each Ghanaian. To him, it does not make sense to spend GHS 20 to count someone who is looking for 2 cedis to buy kenkey.

He wrote;

“It will cost about 20 Ghana cedi to count each Ghanaian in the upcoming population and housing census. This includes people who are looking for 2 cedis to buy Kenkey.”

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) says the 2021 census will begin across the country from Sunday, June 27.

The exercise, which will run till July 11, 2021, is meant to generate data that will be used in decision-making and planning for the development of the country and its citizens.
