Xavi has reportedly warned Gerard Pique that he should leave Barcelona after Jules Kounde’s arrival, according to sources.
“Unprofessional conduct off the pitch” and “deteriorating physical state” have led to Pique’s departure from Barcelona.
Xavi reportedly informed a former teammate that leaving the club this summer would be the “greatest solution” for everyone.
According to reports, Pique’s “sentence” to leave the Nou Camp begins with the arrival of Kounde from Sevilla.
In a transaction worth up to £46 million, the LaLiga giants took Chelsea’s highly-rated center-back from their grip.
Pique has fallen even further down the pecking order with the acquisition of the France international – he currently ranks fifth at centre-back.
Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Ronald Araujo, and Eric Garcia round up the group.
It’s unclear whether or if the 35-year-old is serious about continuing his 14-year association with Barcelona.
It’s been stated that the former Manchester United star dared president Joan Laporta to bring in a new defensive back before Kounde was hired.
‘I will start,’ Pique reportedly informed Laporta.
Bring in the world’s greatest defender and he’ll come in for the rest of the game. “If you dare.”
According to rumors, Xavi plans to play Araujo and Kounde together in the center of defense this season.
In a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation, he could potentially go with a back three.
The problem is that Pique would still have a hard time making the team, as fellow Spaniards Christensen and Garcia are preferred.
