Woman Sells Newborn Baby For 5 Ghana Cedis

A report from a small town in Tepa, which is the capital of Ahafo Ano, A district in the Ashanti Region of Ghana is said to be carrying a child in a basket with the intention of selling it.

According to the given information the woman is said to be selling the baby for she has had continuous child death and as a result, selling her newborn baby as the tradition of the hometown demands. 

In explaining their tradition, whoever buys the child under the amount accepted by the mother will be the one naming the baby. If that person gives his or her name to the baby, the person will be having spiritual authority over the person. 

 After the child is sold, the child will be staying with her biological parents per tradition. This will break the yoke of continuous child death in the family. 

 It is said a media person bought the child for Ghana 5 cedis and they are communicating with lawmakers if it is legal to buy a child under that circumstance.
