Northern Region-based Ghanaian musician, Wiyaala has voiced out her concerns about the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). The VGMA is one of the biggest awards schemes in Ghana that celebrates the achievement of talented musicians.
Many Ghanaians have been criticizing the organizers of the award scheme for the criteria they use to honor the musicians. Wiyaala, a talented Ghanaian singer has revealed in a recent interview that she does not file for the awards because she does not believe she meets the criteria.
She stressed that the criteria organizers of VGMA use do not favor musicians from the Northern part of Ghana. She furthered that while Southern music is played in the Northern, the reverse is untrue. Wiyaala explained that the activities of VGMA are based in Accra.
The “Woyaya” hitmaker stated categorically that she does not have issues with VGMA. She believes it’s an organization with rules and regulations and it is trying to involve musicians across the country.
According to the singer, the event must include all musicians from all the regions.
