The Ministry of Youth and Sports has released a statement expressing disappointment in the abysmal performance and early exit of the Black Stars from the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
According to the statement signed by Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, the ministry is particularly disappointed in the team after government provided the team with all the needed logistical and financial support including resources for preparation and participation in the qualifier stage to the tournament.
The Ministry has also summoned the Ghana Football Association(GFA) leadership to emergency meeting scheduled for Friday, January 21, 2022 to urgently discuss and take decisions aimed at salvaging the performance of the Black Stars especially in the next set of games.
The senior soccer team Black Stars of Ghana crashed out of the Africa Cup of Nations 2021 with a humiliating defeat to Comoros on Tuesday evening.
The team was expected to win the game to advance their chance of qualifying to the next stage of the competition after losing to Morocco in their first game and drawing with Gabon.
