Confirmed cases of coronavirus in the USA have surpassed more than 800,000 after more than 29,000 people tested positive for the disease in less than 24hours

According to new figures from Johns Hopkins University, the institute monitoring the outbreak of the coronavirus disease, in the last twenty-four hours, there has been an upsurge of nearly 30,000 cases in the US

A total of 1,080 people have also lost their lives in the last twenty-four hours to the disease bringing total death cases to 42,940, the highest in the world

This comes after Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization(WHO) warned on Monday that, the worst is still to come

“trust us, the worst is still ahead of us, let’s prevent this tragedy, it’s a virus that many people still don’t understand. Please let’s consider those dying as individuals, they are not numbers or figures, even one life is precious” Tedros said during a media briefing

In total, there are 800,197 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 42,940 deaths in the United States of America
