Ghana’s Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo says the major problem facing Ghana is unemployment.
According to the Senior Presidential Advisor, anyone who says unemployment is not the number one challenge Ghana is facing currently is a liar. His comments come after Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta read the 2022 budget statement in Parliament on Wednesday, November 17.
Mr. Maafo speaking on Adom TV monitored by Adepanews.com noted that the aim of government is to create jobs for the youth. However, he said the government has not been able to fully achieve that mission.
He urged the government to lessen the importation of goods into the country to help generate employment. He explained that importing goods from other countries creates employment for youth in that country and this increases the unemployment rate in Ghana.
To solve unemployment in Ghana, Mr. Maafo suggested that the government should support Ghanaians especially the youth to help them learn how to use raw materials to manufacture goods in the country for local and foreign consumption.
