Ukraine – Russia crisis: Zelensky ready to surrender; asks Putin for direct talks

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine is willing to sit down with Russia’s President for a direct talk.

According to him, that is the only way the ongoing conflict between the two countries could be stopped.

It is day 9 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and scores of civilians have lost their lives in the conflict. Armies of both countries have been involved in intense fights since Russian troops entered Ukraine.

Zelensky speaking during a press conference called on Vladimir Putin to engage in face-to-face talks.

“Sit down with me to negotiate, just not at 30 meters,” Zelenskyy said during the press conference, a reference to a long table Putin used for recent meetings with foreign leaders. “I don’t bite. What are you afraid of?”.

However, Russia and Ukraine have agreed to create humanitarian corridors for civilians fleeing intensifying fighting as Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow’s advance was “going to plan” and to schedule.
