Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called on the government and University Teachers Association of Ghana(UTAG) to negotiate and put a stop to the continuous strike.
Mr. Kufuor speaking in an exclusive interview with UTV said the ongoing strike in public tertiary institutions could have negative impact on the students.
He requested that both sides approach the engagement with a spirit of compromise and sacrifice, acknowledging each other’s challenges as well as the difficult times we are all experiencing globally, in order to recognize the need for a meeting of minds somewhere in the middle of their respective entrenched positions.
The former President used the occasion to passionately appeal to both Government and UTAG to evaluate how the impasse has kept public university students in limbo since the beginning of this semester several weeks.
UTAG has been on strike since January 10, 2022, over government’s failure to review their conditions of service since 2017.
