Sekondi-Takoradi MCE arrives in court over alleged assault on police officer [WATCH]

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive(MCE), Mr. Abdul Mumin appeared before the court today over alleged dangerous driving and assaulting a police officer.

He was arrested yesterday by Western Regional Police Command.

According to a statement released by the Ghana Police Service, Mr. Abdul Mumin Issah was arrested for an alleged motor traffic offence, verbal assault and offensive conduct against a police officer who was performing his lawful duty.

The MCE has been charged on three (3) counts, assault on a public officer, offensive conduct conducive to breaches of peace and disturbing the peace in a public place.

He has also been charged for dangerous driving.

Further information states that he was driving a Toyota Landcruiser with registration number GE 5615 – 20 and is alleged to have driven dangerously and carelessly while approaching a police checkpoint at the Kwesimintsim Cemetery on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.

This was after one of the police officers tried to stop him which he verbally assaulted and threatened him.
