Police investigates de@th of Const. Yelnona Eugene

Adepanews.com a few minutes ago reported the sudden demise of Constable Yelnona Eugene who worked at the National Protection Unit (NPU) of Ghana Police Service.

A press release from the Police Administration has confirmed the passing of Constable Eugene.

Reports have it that the officer was battling with an illness and went on leave but resumed duty last week after the expiration of the leave period.

The deceased requested an extension of leave to continue his medication because he was not fully recovered from his illness but he was denied.

Constable Eugene was then put on duty to guard the residence of one Mr. Olympio, a Togo opposition exile in Ghana at Ridge. In the line of duty, the deceased sh0t himself in a washroom at his duty point.

However, the statement from the Ghana Police indicates investigation has already commenced to unfold the actual cause of his death.

News Release: Death of Constable Yelnona Eugene of National Protection Unit.

The Police Administration reports of the death of No. 53543 G/Const. Yelnona Eugene stationed at the National Protection Unit (NPU) on 1st February, 2021. Investigation has already commenced to unravel the circumstances of his death, while the family of the Police Officer has also been informed of the death.

The Police Administration urges all to be sensitive and circumspect in their commentary on the death.
