He was subsequently arrested and appeared before Sekondi Circuit Court A on February 4, 2022 where he was granted bail in the sum of Gh¢100,000.

After his bail, Mr. Abdul Mumin has been suspended by President Akufo Addo.

A statement signed by Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Daniel Botwe has it that the MCE has been suspended for “an inquiry into his encounter with the police on February 3, 2022”.

The statement added, “without prejudice to the matter now before court, Government takes a very dim view of the comments made by the Metropolitan Chief Executive Officer during his exchanges with the police”.

“The comments by the Chief Executive Officer run contrary to the government’s belief and work to ensure that our security agencies and indeed Public Agencies are resourced, empowered and accorded the respect to deliver on their mandates”, the statement continued.

A lot of Ghanaians especially social media users heaped praises on the police officer for exhibiting professionalism during his encounter with the MCE. Below is the photo of the police officer identified as Chief Inspector Sarfo Andrews.
