Paul Adom-Otchere replies Togbe Afede XIV over his ‘stomach journalism’ comments

Television show host and board chair of the Ghana Airport Company Limited, Paul Adom-Otchere has replied Togbe Afede XIV after he called him “stomach journalist”.

Former Council of State member, Togbe Afede XIV has been in the news for the past few days after he indicated that he had rejected over ¢365,000 ex-gratia paid to him for serving on the Council of State between 2017 and 2020.

In a statement explaining why he refunded the “outrageous” amount, Togbe Afede XIV said it is not appropriate to receive the said amount when he already took monthly salaries for serving on the Council.

He provided these clarifications after members of the public reacted to news of whether or not he indeed followed through with his supposed refund and the rationale behind it.

People who reacted include Paul Adom-Otchere of Metro TV. According to him, Togbe Afede XIV has more to refund to the state than the ¢365,000 ex-gration he refunded recently.

In a rebuttal, Tobge Afede clapped back Paul Otchere and called him a “stomach journalist”.

Well, Paul has also reacted. On his Good Evening Show he said, “Let me deal with the ‘stomach journalist’ thing. What does it mean? If you support Nana Akufo Addo, you’re a stomach journalist. If you support John Mahama, you are a journalist of conscience. What does it mean, I don’t understand it. I said that Ghanaians had voted wrongly when they voted for Professor Mills; that was when Akufo Addo lost the election. I had indicated my support for Akufo Addo when he lost the election. I said that in 2009, what is stomach journalism about that? In 2017 when Akufo Addo won the elections, I was delighted and told him I want to be on the NCA board. I am acting on the conviction that, Nana Akufo Addo is a great President among his generation for Ghana; you can think differently, no problem about that. This has nothing to do with stomach journalism.”
