The Presidential candidate of Ghana Union Movement (GUM) Rev. Dr Christian Kwabena Andrews popularly known as ‘Osofo Kyiri Abosom’ has promised to take legal action against President Akufo-Addo for ravaging state property solely to construct a national cathedral, should he win the elections.
This follows after the President demolished state housing properties in the capital, Accra to construct a national cathedral to fulfill a promise he made to God ahead of the 2016 elections.
His actions were heavily scrutinized by many who believed the project was unnecessary including Convention People’s Party’s General Secretary James Kobena Bomfeh.
Accordingly, Osofo Kyiri Abosam, says the President Akufo-Addo should have left the state housing property to rest on its land by constructing the national Cathedral on another ideal location.
On 26 November 2020, while addressing the media he noted: “The only person l will sue is President Nana Akufo-Addo if l am elected president come December 7 for demolishing state property in the name of building a national cathedral for his God, he’s the only one who knows his God”.
He also promised to resurrect the abandoned factories created by late President Dr Kwame Nkrumah including Juapong Textiles Factory, Matches and, Pwalugu tomatoes factories. He noted that a similar injection of life would be given to the mining sector activities and he will also ensure that small scale mining and retail marketing is reserved for only Ghanaians.
He also accused President Akufo-Addo of destroying Ghana’s already damaged economy and also quizzed;
“Where are the factories…? It’s all lies because many people cannot find a factory in their districts. It’s very simple…if you can’t do it, you leave for Osofo Kyiri Abosom to do it,” he stated.
He added “message on the ground is that it is time for GUM to take over the Jubilee House and resolve myriad of problems facing Ghanaians and put an end to NDC and NPP duopoly. They have nothing to offer the suffering voters and vulnerable in society, Akufo-Addo will go to the opposition, he is a one-term president, no doubt about that, he knows”.
