Renowned Ghanaian politician and former National Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyapong has also declared his intention of joining the party’s flagbearership race.
Mr. Agyapong who once contested for the position in 2007 said he has not ruled out his idea of joining the flagbearership race in the NPP to lead the party in the upcoming general elections.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM ‘Ekosiisen’ program, he stressed that there will be no coronation in the party and party sympathizers in the race must work hard to earn it.
He explained that no member in the party will win the position on silver platter.
The NPP national flagbearership race is expected to be a keenly contested race with some researchers tipping the Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the Trade Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen as the front-runners.
Other individuals who have declared their intention to run include; Agric Minister, Owusu Afriyie Akoto, former Regional Integration Minister, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Hon Kennedy Agyapong and former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko.
