Ghanaian celebrities and other social media users a few days ago mounted pressure on President Akufo-Addo to comment on the ongoing protests in Nigeria by the youths demanding the disbandment of police unit called Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The SARS has been accused of murder, extortion and other abusive acts against young Nigerians.
In the past week, the Nigerian youths started a peaceful protest demanding that the SARS should be dissolved.
Most Ghanaians condemned the police and demanded President Akufo-Addo who doubles as ECOWAS chairman to comment on the happenings in Nigeria.
Taking to social media on Wednesday, the President Akufo-Addo indicated that he is not in support of the reported killings of peaceful protests by security officers in Nigeria.
Violence, be it on the part of the Police or protesters, cannot be the solution. To the families who have lost their loved ones, I express my sincere condolences, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery. 2/2 #EndSARS
However, it seems as though President’s words mean nothing to them even after he had finally released a message concerning the situation. Nigerian citizens have taken to their social media platforms to troll and roast the him.
