Ghanaian musician, Barima Sidney has advised his fellow artistes on releasing music for political parties in Ghana.
Barima Sidney, threw his support and endorsed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016 election campaign and went further to release music that year for the party.
In an interview sighted by Adepanews.com. Speaking on Akoma Fm, a radio station in Kumasi, the controversial singer noted that musicians should be professional and business oriented when it comes to dealing with political party.
“As a celebrity, when you decide to endorse any political party or candidate make sure you claim your cash. Never do it for free; I will never say that Just because you love the person or party. You only do that at the expense of your career; hence in any case you must take money”. He noted
“You can’t blame them in future if they don’t show appreciation after giving free endorsement”, he added.
Sidney has clearly said that the NPP did not pay him for his work because he did it out of love for the party. Leaving it unclear if his advise is hints at political party owing him money.
