Reports reaching Adepanews.com establishes that supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and authorities of the Electoral Commission (EC) clashed in Zabzugu after the latter decided to relocate its Biometric Verification Devices.
The incident which transpired earlier today, ignited when these unidentified EC officials attempted to collect some documents and BVDs from its office in the constituency.
According to sources, the King of Zabzugu, Zelzol Lana Alhassan mediated to bring peace to the commotion which was escalating between the EC officials, the security personnel, and the residents of the community belonging to the NDC.
This tragic incident in Zabzugu makes it the second time the commission has been denied entry Into its office and collecting materials from the workplace by these NDC allies.
“The Regional EC chief was coming. Our kin had just been sticking around the EC office to see what they were doing,” the Election Director of the NDC in the zone, Bawa Shahadu, described to Citi News.
“The EC official for Tatale came there for the BVD [Biometric Verification Devices] machines. We approached him to stop him on the premise that our interests over the outcomes had not been tended to.”
