We earlier reported that Ghanaian legendary footballer, Michael Essien via social media declared his support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Transgender and Queer Intersex (LGBTQI) community in Ghana.

Communicating his opinions in an Instagram post, the former Chelsea midfielder argued that since Ghana supports equality in all matters the same approach must be employed in the acceptances of LGBTQI.

β€œWe see you, we hear you, we support you. Our LGBTQIA plus Community in Ghana #ghanasupportequality πŸ‡¬πŸ‡πŸ€πŸΏβ€œ, he wrote.

He was heavily lambasted for supporting an act that is highly disregarded and against the laws and culture.

The former Black Stars midfielder has however, deleted the post after Ghanaians descended heavily on him.

However, the president of Ghana dismissed any doubt that LGBT marriages would be acknowledged when he said β€œI have said it before, and let me stress it again, that it will not be under the Presidency of Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo that same-sex marriage will be legal,” he said.
