Man who threatened to stage coup charged with treason felony; remanded into police custody

The Ashaiman District Court has remanded one Mr. Oliver Baker-Vormarwor into police custody after he was charged with treason felony earlier today, Monday, February 14.

The court denied him bail with a claim that it does not have jurisdiction to grant bail due to the nature of offense.

According to the court presided over by Her Honour Eleanor Barnes, the defense team can repeat their bail application at the High Court or challenge her ruling.

The court also ordered the police to ensure that the defence and three members of his family are allowed access to him every day between 10 am and 4 pm.

Mr. Oliver Baker-Vormarwor was arrested last week for threatening to stage a coup in Ghana if the controversial E-levy is passed.
