A section of Ghanaians has taken to social media to mock former President John Dramani Mahama for supporting the late Christian Atsu’s family with only GH¢5,000.
A delegation representing the former President visited Atsu’s family in Accra on Monday, February 27, 2023.
They presented 25 cartons of water and an amount of GH¢5,000 on behalf of the former President.
The amount however has sparked debate as to if it befits the status of the former president.
Some even asked if it’s to be used for a primary school ‘our day‘ celebration.
Judging from the reactions of netizens to the sum donated, they believe it doesn’t befit the status of either the President or the deceased.
Atsu, playing for Turking club Hatayspor at the time, was trapped under rubble in his building and would not be discovered until almost two weeks later.
His one-week observation comes off this weekend, Saturday, March 4th.
