Former President and the current flagbearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama has finally addressed the worries of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) concerning the series of massive protests by his supporters.

On 14th December 2020, the GPCC came out with Press Statement to advise all Ghanaians to maintain the peace and unity the country pride itself on. The organization also calls for calmness on the part of the NDC supporters and the Ghana Police Service to ensure a peaceful demonstration.

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council advised the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Ex-President John Dramani Mahama to take up the matter to the supreme court as they urged all Christians and Ghanaians to remember the country in prayers.

The council also stressed that a protest against Electoral results is a constitutional right of the aggrieved political party but they should use the appropriate means and ways to express their displeasure. The council also appealed to the victorious party not to provoke their opponents in any way, it could lead to the unexpected.

To this, the 2020 Presidential candidate for the NDC John Mahama applauded the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) for the recognition of protests as an instrument of democratic expression.

Mr. Mahama maintained that the protest and demonstration that threatens the democracy the country is noted for is a result of the Electoral Commission(EC’s) ineffectiveness and incompetent handling of the 2020 general election.

John Mahama who in build-up to the 2020 polls was bombarded with sugar daddy scandals, still stressed that all who feel cheated on by the EC’s methods should protest and voice out their dissatisfaction.
