Mahama denies Abronye’s coup plot allegations

Former President and flag bearer of opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), John Dramani Mahama has refuted Abronye’s claims suggesting that he’s planning to stage a coup in Ghana.

Mr. Mahama urged Ghanaians to disregard reports that he has met with terrorist group AI Qaeda to stage a coup.

In a statement on his behalf by Joyce Mogtari Bawa said: “H.E John Dramani Mahama has not met with any group of people, let alone a terrorist group, to plot to stage a coup d’etat.”

The statement signed by the aide to the former President further disclosed that “This is not the first time Abronye has made such despicable and reprehensible allegations and caused same to be published about President Mahama and many other leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).”

The Bono Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye alleged that Mr. Mahama is planning to stage a coup in Ghana.

He was subsequently arrested by Accra Regional Police Command following the accusation.

Abronye was arraigned before the court where he was granted GH¢100,000 bail with two sureties.
