The issue surrounding the introduction of electronic transaction levy (E-levy) has gained public interest after Ghanaians kicked against its implementation.
A lot of Ghanaians have reacted after the Finance Minister Mr. Ken Ofori Atta announced during the presentation of the 2022 budget statement in Parliament that the government has intended to introduce a 1.75% electronic transaction levy.
The e-levy is yet to be passed after Minority Caucus in Parliament vowed to kick against it with the claim that it will worsen the hardship in the country.
The ruling government led by President Akufo-Addo has been organizing townhall meetings on the controversial E-levy to educate the public on the bill.
So far, three townhall meetings have been held in different parts of the country, Eastern, Western and Northern regions.
A viral circulating online shows a mentally deranged man educating and explaining why Ghanaians should embrace the e-levy.
When asked if Ghanaians must pay the e-levy, he said yes and gave an explanation which he only understands.
