An Accra Circuit Court has today, October 22 remanded Medikal in police custody for the next five days.
This comes after the multiple award-winning rapper was arrested yesterday by the police for brandishing a gun on social media.
He was arraigned and appeared before an Accra Circuit Court in the early hours of today where he was charged with an unlawful display of arms and ammunition to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Court subsequently remanded him into police custody for the next five days to enable police to continue their investigation.
Section 7 of the Arms and Ammunitions Act stipulate that “No person shall, except in accordance with the terms of a permit granted under this Decree or with the written consent of the Inspector-General of Police, publicly display any arms or ammunition (including explosives) or discharge any firearm or other weapon in any public place.“
Medikal was arrested by the police on Thursday a few hours after dancehall musician Shatta Wale was remanded.
