Multiple award-winning investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has sent appreciation to former President John Dramani Mahama for making the freedom of journalists and civil groups a priority during his tenure.
According to the Editor-in-Chief of the Fourth Estate, journalists were able to do critical journalism during the reign of John Dramani Mahama because he made them felt secured and safe.
Manasseh in a Facebook post claimed that he felt safe despite criticizing Mahama and his government and despite his many exposés he was protected.
Manasseh is celebrating his 10th anniversary as an investigative journalist.
He wrote;
“It’s my 10th anniversary as an investigative journalist. I do not take it for granted that under John Mahama’s presidency, journalists and civil society groups felt very safe and secure to do critical journalism and activism. Thank you, Mr. President.
