Lawmaker for Essikado-Ketan constituency in the Western Region, Joe Ghartey has released a statement asking both the Finance Minister and the Minister of Youth and Sports to clarify some claims made in the 2022 budget concerning the renovation of Essispong Stadium.

Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta reading the 2022 budget statement on Wednesday, November 17 claimed that the Essipong Sports Stadium in Sekondi was undergoing renovation and it was 90% complete.

“Mr. Speaker, some stadia across the country were renovated in 2021 and are at various stages of completion as follows: Accra Sports Stadium – 98% complete; Phase I of Baba Yara Stadium – 98% complete; Essipong Stadium – 90% complete; and Cape Coast Stadium – 60% complete,” he said.

According to the MP for the area, his checks and photos prove otherwise.
