Mahama weeps over the death of a top NDC member

I will only accept defeat if the EC does this for me, John Mahama has revealed.

Former president and flag bearer of opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), John Dramani Mahama have said that his party will not accept what he described as ‘fictionalized’ results in the just-ended general election.

But in a recent interview on Voice of America, Mahama mentioned the conditions under which he would accept defeat.

“If an independent audit is done on the EC’s results and the outcome proves that I lost the elections, I will accept it and walk away as done in the past. But as long as an independent audit is not done and knowing that there was a deliberate attempt to subvert the will of voters by the government and the EC, it will be wrong on my part to let it go.

In my principles as a democrat, I cannot accept the results of a discredited elections. I can’t be seen to be sweeping it under the carpet and let it go. He added.

Meanwhile, the Embassy said the United States “expects that any electoral disputes would be resolved through established legal channels.”
