Ex-Ghana international, Charles Taylor has kicked against Ghana Football Association’s decision to retire Black Stars’ number 7 jersey in memory of the late Christian Atsu.
Reports went viral yesterday that the GFA is considering retiring the number 7 jersey in honor of Atsu.
The decision of GFA to retire the number 7 jersey garnered a lot of reactions on social media.
Charles Taylor reacting to it on Angel TV said the plan to retire the number 7 jersey is needless, adding that even Maradona’s jersey hasn’t been retired.
According to him, the late Christian Atsu was not part of the Black Stars at the later part of his career so retiring the shirt in honor of him is not in the right direction.
“Retiring Black Stars number 7 jersey in honor of Christian Atsu is needless. Even Maradona’s shirt is not retired,” he said.
