It is not legally right – Michy educates individuals impersonating celebrities

Television show host, Diamond Michelle Gbagonah widely known as Michy GH has schooled the group of individuals of have tagged themselves as ‘celebrity lookalikes’ on the consequences of impersonation to Ghana’s law.

In recent weeks, the emergence of lookalikes has become a topic of interest on social media, with some expressing concern over the phenomenon. There have been claims that these individuals are hired to perform at events, where they are paid for performing the songs of the main artist without prior consent.

This compelled Medikal to react and called out radio and television stations for giving airtime to these self-proclaimed lookalikes and promoting them.

In a video sighted online, the former girlfriend of Shatta Wale told the lookalike association that it is not legally right to use another person’s name for entertainment or fraudulent activities because it dents the hard-earned reputation of the original person.

According to Michy, lookalikes must ask permission from their idols before they perform their songs.
