The Ghana Police Service has released a statement confirming that the Deputy Regional Police Commander of Ashanti Region, DCOP Kwasi Ankomeah-Praku has been removed from his post after the incident that happened in Islamic SHS.
According to the statement released by the service, the officer has been interdicted to pave way for investigation.
The Police admitted that a better approach to tackling the chaos at the Islamic SHS could have been employed.
Aside from the Deputy Regional Commander’s removal, two other officers were interdicted to make way for a thorough investigation. This includes Regional Operations Officer, ACP George Ankccnah and Suame Divisional Police Commander, ACP Alex Cudjoe Acquah.
Additionally, the press release intimated that the issue has been taken up by the Police Professional Standards Bureau as they have commenced a full-scale investigation into the conduct of the officers who were responsible for the Police response.
