Ibrahim Mahama withdraws last coins in Owusu Bempah’s bank account

Business Mogul, Ibrahim Mahama has ‘mercilessly’ withdrawn the last 60 pesewas from the bank account of Communications Director of Ghana Gas Company Limited, Ernest Owusu Bempah.

This comes after a High Court had ordered the National Investment Bank (NIB) to release any funds in the sum of GHC 310,000.00 in an account held by Ernest Owusu Bempah, Communications Director of Ghana Gas Company Limited, with the bank and pay the said amount to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama.

The Court gave the order pursuant to an application filed in the Court by lawyer Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah, the lawyer for Mr. Mahama asking the Court to compel NIB to release funds held in an account belonging to Owusu Bempah of Ghana Gas to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama as payment of judgment debt.

But the bank on 20 January 2021 only issued a cheque with the face value of GH¢107,000 from the account of Ernest Owusu Bempah to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama in compliance with an order of the Court.

In compliance with an order of the bank that should the account have less than Ghs310,000, it should be emptied, the bank was forced to add the last 60 pesewas left in the account.

With the payment of Ghs107,000 plus 60 pesewas of the Ghs310,000, Owusu Bempah now has Ghs202,999.40 pesewas to pay Mr. Ibrahim Mahama for defaming him.

Recall that Business Mogul, Ibrahim Mahama sued Ernest Owusu Bempah, Communications Director of Ghana Gas Company Limited and Despite Group of Companies GH¢2 million each for defamatory comments but judge awarded GH¢300,000 instead and directed the defendants to publish a retraction and apology in the Daily Graphic and on the same platform those defamatory words were used against the plaintiff.

They have also been directed to remove the said defamatory material about the plaintiffs from all archives.
