I still pray that he is alive – Christian Atsu’s wife finally speaks

Marie Claire Rupio, wife of Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu has finally spoken after her partner was trapped under rubble following the earthquake that hit Turkey on Monday.

Maria speaking in an interview with BBC said she and her children are deeply worried about the whereabouts of Christian Atsu.

In a video sighted by Adepanews.com, Marie who was full of tears said Atsu’s agent is the one feeding her with information and she is hoping her husband would be rescued alive.

“So it was quite shocking that the club was saying he had been found and that 11 hours later my children had to hear from the radio that they still don’t know where he is,” she said.

She continued that Christian Atsu was in touch with her and the kids last Saturday only for the unfortunate incident to happen on Monday. She has appealed to the rescuers to do their maximum best to have her partner and others still caught up in the rubble rescued.

Earlier on Monday, it emerged that Atsu had been trapped in the rubble after a devastating earthquake hit Turkey.

Atsu, who plays for Turkish side Hatayspor, had been trapped under the rubble together with the club’s sporting director Taner Savut.

Meanwhile, Hatayspor club’s vice president, Mustafa Ozat, had earlier confirmed Atsu’s rescue and stated that he had sustained injuries. However, the whereabouts of the Ghanaian winger is still unknown.
