Ghanaian gospel musician, Ohemaa Mercy has disclosed how she preaches with Stonebwoy’s single ‘Tuff Seed’ even though it is secular music.
The gospel singer made this shocking revelation while speaking in an interview on an Accra-based Hitz FM. According to her, Tuff Seed is one of her favorite songs, and listening to it always takes her to the spiritual level and this enables her to preach with it to win souls for Christ.
She revealed that people called her to cry and share testimonies, showing the powerful work the song had done.
“Amazingly I was preaching with Stonebwoy’s ‘Tuff Seed’, and I am telling you it was so powerful. People had to call me and they cried, and then they shared the kind of things that Ministration took them out of. ‘Tuff Seed’ is one of the best songs I love on Stonebwoy’s album. It is a very deep song and when you take it to the spiritual side, you will realize he [Stonebwoy] was saying something mysterious. I was preaching with ‘Tuff Seed’ and it was something else…I listen to a lot of songs and there are some songs I listen to and it speaks to me a lot”.
When asked if she wasn’t scared of being backlashed by Christian critics for listening to secular music, she emphasized that it rather made them anxious to listen to the Ministration she had to share and she went on to cite examples of other secular artists she listens to from time to time.
“I had a lot of revelations after listening to the song, and when I started preaching about it. I had a lot of these people [Christian critics], who were tensed and curious to listen to what I had to say. When I got deep into the Word, they were shocked and I was telling them what our brother [Stonebwoy] was ministering to us… I listen to Shatta Wale too, he has several motivational songs and I like them”.
