The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama has refuted claims that he disclosed medical records of former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu to the outspoken politician, Kennedy Agyapong.
Speaking in an interview, Mr. Ayariga made it clear that he has no documents in his possession that proves Mr. Amidu visited Germany for medical checkups as alleged by the Assin Central MP.
“I don’t recall having discussions with Hon Kennedy in which I made reservations about medical condition and treatment in Germany, etc.
“Unfortunately, the issues are turning around to medical records but I don’t have any medical record of my uncle, Martin Amidu,” he noted.
Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, speaking on Accra-based NET2 TV alleged that Mr. Martin Amidu is suffering from a mental problem that makes him mentally unstable, and renders him indecisive on issues.
According to him, MP for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga wanted to bring the matter up when Martin Amidu was being vetted for the position of Special Prosecutor, but former President John Dramani Mahama prevented him to do so.
Kennedy Agyapong affirmatively said there is a German hospital report that proves his statement and he dares Martin Amidu to make the report public.
In response to the allegations by Kennedy Agyapong, in an interview with Citi FM, resigned Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu said the MP has lost his credibility as an honorable member, and his statement should be considered as contempt
Reacting to this, Mr. Ayariga said it was unfortunate that the issue at hand which is the resignation of Martin Amidu is being ignored over a debate on medical records.
“I think we should focus on the real reasons why he has resigned and deal with it” he added.
Mr. Ayariga reiterated that he “should be left out of the conversation” due to the daring legal battles he is presently entangled in.
