Osei Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu, the Leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Caucus in Parliament, has renounced claims that he manipulated the Member of Parliament for Tema West to snatch the ballot papers during the election of the speaker of Parliament.

History was made on Thursday, January 7, 2021, after Mr. Carlos Ahenkora snatched uncounted ballot papers in an attempted to disrupt the election of Speakership after calculating that his beloved had lost.

His pace was matched and he quickly was overpowered at the entrance of the parliamentary chamber by some NDC MPs who were on guard to sustain their victory.

Many after the humiliating incident suspected that the Tema West MP was just operating under the instructions of Osei-Kyei-Bonsu after the two were seen in a video having a chat before the said action.

Regardless Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu while rebutting the allegation revealed that Mr. Ahenkorah did what he did at his discretion.

“I didn’t instruct Carlos Ahenkorah to snatch the ballot papers. He isn’t a child. He did what he did on his own volition. The day after the incident, he came out with a statement that he acted on his own volition.”

“So I don’t know why people are still clinging to suspension that I instructed him to do what he did.” He said in an interview with GHONE television.

Mr. Bonsu added that “He [Carlos Ahenkora] came to my office on Tuesday to apologize. That was the first time he stepped into my office after these unfortunate events.”
