The ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) has finally fulfilled the promise they made to Okada Riders prior to the 2020 general election.

The NPP government led by President Akufo-Addo before the 2020 election promised to acquire four-seater, fully air-conditioned mini cars to replace Okada bikes if they are voted to power.

Their promise came after former President and flag bearer of opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), John Dramani Mahama promised to legalize Okada business should he come to power.

This initiative is to offer commercial motorbike riders widely known as ‘Okada riders’ a better and safer alternative.

The project has finally been launched by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia according to videos and photos sighted online by Adepanews.com.

Earlier reports suggested that the government will roll out the first phase of the initiative with 100 four-seater, fully air-conditioned mini cars.

Coastal Development Authority (CODA) in its report revealed that over 100 Okada riders have already registered for these vehicles.
