Ghanaians blast Akufo-Addo over Ghana Awards House initiative

Ghanaians especially social media users have descended heavily on President Akufo-Addo over his decision to build an awards scheme house.

Yesterday, the President took to his official Facebook page and posted that he has cut sod for construction of GH¢5 million Ghana Awards Scheme House.

In the post, he wrote;

“On Wednesday, 7th April 2021, I cut the sod for the commencement of construction of the “Ghana Award House” – a new administrative building for the Head of State Award Scheme.

Since its inception in 1967, the Award Scheme has challenged and touched the lives of many young Ghanaians. Not only has the Scheme challenged them to find their true purpose, passion and place, but it has also enhanced the employability skills and competencies, giving them the opportunity to serve the nation in various voluntary capacities.

Ghana will be the second country in Africa, after the Presidents’ Award of Kenya, and one of thee few countries globally, to have its own administrative office.”

But Ghanaians have descended on the President with a section condemning the initiative adding that it cannot be a priority in the face of poor standard of living in many areas of the country.

Many claims there are numerous weaknesses in other areas that need to be tackled such as our health care system and the Free SHS policy.
