The final funeral rite of the late Christian Astu is currently ongoing at the forecourt of the State House.
President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Mahammudu Bawumia, former president John Dramani Mahama, Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials, former Black Stars players and other dignitaries joined the bereaved family of Atsu to mourn their relative.
Atsu was a victim of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on February 6, 2023.
His former teammates, Sulley Muntari, John Paintsil, Richard Kingston who stormed the funeral grounds could be seen weeping uncontrollably after filing past his lifeless body to pay their last respect.
