Suspended Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs has joined groups defending Minister-designate for Fisheries and Aquaculture Ministry, Hon Mavis Hawa Koomson over claims that she doesn’t fit for the job because she’s not fluent in the Queen’s Language.

The honorable Member of Parliament was trolled on social media yesterday for failing to impress the vetting committee when they asked her to define “Fish Farming” and its advantages.

She laughingly said: Thank you Mr. Chairman, I will try my best. Fish Farming is the process of rearing of fish in the reservoirs, fish ponds etc…” and added few advantages saying; ‘One advantages of Fish Farming is it makes the farmer earn some income and it also increases fish in the community for consumption.

After her definition, many Ghanaians believe the minister-designate is not fit for the job for failing to answer a simple question in her Ministry.

However, a lot of people have jumped to her defense including Mr. Allotey Jacobs. According to them Hon. Hawa Koomson does not need to be an oracle in the English Language before she can do the work.

Mr. Allotey in a Facebook post wrote;

“Parliamentarianfio The Fisheries Ministry is not about fluency of the English language but it is about touching base with the fishermen and speaking their language That’s All Hawa you are best for that Ministry.”
