2 American female entertainers, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna joined the EndSARS protest to voice their dissatisfaction with the current turn of events in Nigeria.
The two took to their respective social media accounts to declare their support for the protest and urge for change which could stop the current killing of young and peaceful protesters.
Nicki’s message on Twitter reads; “I stand with and pray for all brave young people of Nigeria who are on the frontlines of this senseless violence. Your voice is being heard #EndSARS”
Rihanna’s tweet aimed at the neglect of the government and the police service on the fact that they instituted by the same individuals they are ignoring now.
The nationwide protests began after weeks of anger and outcry online by the country’s young people over claims of kidnapping, harassment, and extortion by the police unit.
The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) was a Nigerian Police Force unit under the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department headed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Anthony Ogbizi.
The protest has led to the death of many young Nigerians and has left others injured.
