The Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Anin Yeboah has constituted a seven-member panel to adjudicate the Election Petition brought to the Apex Court by Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Candidate, John Dramani Mahama in the just ended elections.
It goes without saying that, all the Justices on the panel, just as all the Justices of the Supreme Court have strong reputation and many years of good standing in the Bar.
Below are the Justices:
The Justices on the panel are;
1 Justice Anin Yeboah – Presiding Justice (Chief Justice)
He was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge in 2008 by former President John Agyekum Kuffour. In 2019, he was appointed by President Akuffo-Addo to succeed Justice Sophia Akuffo as the Chief Justice of Ghana.
2 Justice Yaw Appau – Member
Justice Yaw Appau was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge in 2015 by then President John Dramani Mahama.
3 Justice Samuel Marful-Sau – Member
Justice Samuel Marful-Sau was among the first Justices appointed to the Supreme Court by President Nana Addo Dankwa AKuffo-Addo in 2018. He is also currently the Director of the Judicial Training Institute (JTI).
4 Justice Nene Ofoe Abayateye Amegatcher – Member
Justice Amegatcher was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge in 2018 by President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo. He is the Chairman of the African Regional Hub of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association.
5 Justice Nii Ashie Kotey – Member
In 2018, President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo appointed Justice Nii Ashie Kotey as a Supreme Court Judge.
6 Justice Mariama Owusu – Member
President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo appointed Justice Mariama Owusu to the Supreme Court in December 2019.
7 Justice Getrude Torkornoo – Member
Justice Gertrude Torkornoo was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge in 2019 by President Akuffo-Addo.
