National Chairman of opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has reacted to the directive by Electoral Commission to prevent voters without face masks from voting.
According to Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo, the wearing of facemask to polling stations is not an election regulation, it is just to ensure the safety of citizens so there is no need to turn away voters if they fail to adhere to the directive.
The EC led by Mrs. Jean Mensa disclosed that citizens who fail to wear face masks during the electoral process will be prevented from casting their votes.
However, Mr. Ampofo speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen program urged the EC to provide facemasks at all polling stations to support the directive.
“How can you come out with a regulation you cannot implement? That directive cannot be implemented!” the NDC National Chairman fumed.
“Government must resource EC to provide face masks for those who will not have otherwise we won’t support it,” he added.
