Ghanaian actor, Akwasi Boadi well known as Akrobeto has frowned against claims that movie living legend Agya Koo collapsed the Kumawood/Movie industry.
According to the comic actor, the claims that Agya Koo who helped in reviving Ghana movies k!lled the movie industry after stepping out are not true.
Recently, blames were laid on Agya Koo for causing the downfall of Kumwawood after he decided to quit acting. But according to Agya Koo who shot to fame after the hit movie “Ma Tricki”, it was movie producers who collapsed the industry after they decided to sideline him when he was the character everyone wished to see him in movies.
Well, Akrobeto aka ‘who nose tomorrow ‘ has disclosed what caused the downfall of Kumawood. Speaking in an interview on Peace FM, the ‘Real News’ host said if Agya Koo claims the industry collapsed because of his absence, that’s his own opinion but to him, the real cause of the downfall of the industry is ‘dumsor’. The power outages Ghana experienced some years ago.
He added that the downfall of the industry started when people were not able to watch movies due to the power cuts. He furthered that telenovelas also shot up when government provided solution to the power cuts, that is when people stopped patronizing local movies.
