Don’t even dare to rig 2024 election – Mahama warns NPP

Aspiring presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has sent a stern warning to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2024 general elections.

According to the former president, NDC would mark NPP boot-for-boot because the grassroots of the NDC have been trained to protect the ballot papers.

Mr. Mahama made this statement while speaking to delegates during his tour of the Abuakwa South, Abuakwa North, Fanteakwa South and Fanteakwa North constituencies in the Eastern Region on Wednesday, 12 April 2023.

However, some members of the ruling NPP have petitioned the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to arrest the ex-president for his ‘Do or Die’ statement he made concerning the 2024 presidential election.

John Mahama has clarified that his ‘do or die’ comment is not inciteful.

“When I say the 2024 election is do or die, when you check in the dictionary it means something that is very critical that you have to risk everything to prevent failure that is what we call Do or Die. So when I say Do or Die it doesn’t mean we are going to take cutlasses and clubs to attack people that is not the mean”.
