Black Stars skipper, Andre Dede Ayew has responded to their early elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup following their 2:0 loss to Uruguay.
Dede Ayew made it obvious in a news conference following the game that he is really dissatisfied. He anticipated the team to perform better than they did. He continued by saying that the team should all take responsibility for the early exit from the competition and expressed regret to Ghanaians.
This comes after Uruguay defeated Black Stars in the tournament. Despite the win, Uruguay failed to qualify. Ghana started the game on the front foot as they nearly took the lead in the opening stages of the game. Ghana was handed a glorious opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot but Ayew couldn’t find a way past Uruguay goalkeeper from 12 yards out.
Things got even worse for Ghana in the 26th minute as De Arrascaeta found the back of the net for Uruguay. It got even better for Uruguay in the 32nd minute as Arrascaeta scored yet another brilliant goal after receiving a delightful pass from Suarez.
The Black Stars were unable to get back into the game, and Arrascaeta’s two goals were enough for Uruguay to win all three points.
However, Ghana would be responsible for their unexpected elimination from the competition because they missed the chance to alter the game’s pace early on.
In the early going of the game, the Black Stars had a wonderful opportunity to take the lead but they squandered it. Without a doubt, if Ayew had converted an earlier penalty, Uruguay would have had a difficult time regaining the lead.
