The Kaneshie District Court has withdrawn a bench warrant issued for the arrest of Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis Xavier-Sosu.
This comes after lawyers of the lawmaker filed for a stay of execution.
According to Mr. Sosu, the warrant issued by the court was unlawful and unreasonable.
The MP is in court after the police secured a criminal summons for him for leading his constituents in a demonstration against bad roads in his constituency which according to the police included some unlawful acts.
All attempts by the police to arrest him have proven futile. The police further wrote to the Speaker of Parliament to release the MP for interrogation which he refused.
This compelled the police to secure a criminal summons for Mr. Sosu. The MP, however, missed the court date because he was out of the country, and the case was adjourned.
