The Kaneshie District Court has given Ghana Police Service the greenlight to arrest Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis Xavier Sosu.

The court ordered his arrest on Monday, November 29, 2021 after he failed to appear in court for the third time.

Mr. Sosu is in court after the police secured a criminal summons for him for leading his constituents in a demonstration against bad roads in his constituency which according to the police included some unlawful acts.

All attempts by the police to arrest him have proven futile. The police further wrote to the Speaker of Parliament to release the MP for interrogation which he refused.

This compelled the police to secure a criminal summons for Mr. Sosu. The MP, however, missed the court date because he was out of the country, and the case was adjourned.

But the Prosecutor in the case told the court that the MP was back in the country and has since been seen in Parliament but still not attended the court sitting.

His Lawyer, Kojoga Adawudu defended that he has been busy with Parliamentary works since his return; a plea which was not taken leading the court to issue a warrant for his arrest.
