The Head of Ghana Police Service’s Legal and Prosecution Division, Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye has officially retired from active service as he turns 60 years today.
A trending video captures the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Geroge Akuffo Dampare decorating COP Kofi Boakye with a medal as he retires from the security service.
COP Kofi Boakye also known as Commander One has been eulogized by many Ghanaians who were great admirers of him for serving the country with passion and integrity.
Mr. Boakye won the hearts of Ghanaians following his role in the arrest of popular armed robber Ataa Ayi and his gang in 2005 and his stance against robbery in Ghana.
His superiors and peers in the service remember him as a fearless officer who possessed a special talent for following and apprehending robbery gangs. The Ashanti Region and its people lived in security and safety throughout his time as police chief. During his time at the helm of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, the force made several notable arrests of wanted criminals.
COP Kofi Boakye was the Regional Commander of the Western Region before being transferred to the Ashanti Region. To ensure that peace and order would prevail in the Western Area, Commander One made sure that all the most dangerous criminals in the area were also captured.
